Pets as gifts sounds like an awfully good idea.. actually it is an awful idea most of the time.  The giver of the gitt may think that the person, especially a child, will love the new “furbaby” and initially this may be so.   But a pet is at least a 10 yr commitment, with a lot of expense to the owner.  Can the person receiving the pet afford this expense?
