Hi, I am Nancy!

Ever since I was a child I have had a affinity for animals. My family had dogs and cats when I was growing up. When I had my own family, this love of animals expanded into a small menagerie.

Our animals were always well behaved and did lots of tricks. People started to ask me how to get their dogs to do the tricks, and then I started holding classes.
That was over 50 years ago!

I am constantly learning from other people, but most of all I learn by watching and listening to the dogs themselves.

Over the years, I have developed and refined my own training framework, the Firm and Fair Method. This method is built on positive, force-free training, calm guidance, patience, and clarity. I do not use intimidation, pain, or coercion. Instead, I focus on teaching dogs how to succeed by setting up the environment, reinforcing good choices, and giving dogs clear, consistent information they can understand.

Using this approach, I have helped hundreds of owners transform overwhelmed, reactive, or difficult dogs into calm, responsive companions who are welcome and trusted in everyday life.

Firm and Fair does not mean harsh. It means being clear, steady, and fair with expectations while guiding the dog with kindness and respect. By adjusting the environment and the training structure, dogs learn reliable behaviors without fear or force.

Inspired by these results, I am sharing my accumulated years of experience and knowledge with you.

This site includes a wide range of training videos designed to support dog owners at every stage. Whether you are working on basic skills such as sit, stay, and recall, addressing common challenges like jumping, biting, pulling on leash, or barking, or training at a higher level for obedience or dog sports, you will find practical, supportive guidance here.

If you are interested in one-on-one training, I am available in online and in person  on Manitoulin Island in Ontario, Canada, and in Mexico during the winter months.

You can also enjoy short reels, training tips, and educational videos, or browse the training library to find the right support for you and your beloved dog.

I look forward to supporting your training journey and your success.
